A 5.8-magnitude earthquake struck Islamabad and surrounding regions on Monday morning, sending tremors across parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan, officials said. The tremors were felt in Swat and Hunza, prompting residents to rush out of buildings in panic.Meanwhile, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) recorded the quake at 5.9 magnitude, locating its epicentre around 50 kilometres north-northwest of Barishal, at a depth of 35 kilometres.Authorities said monitoring of aftershocks was underway.
