Balochistan Is Key To Pakistan’s Economic Future And National Security: Senate Chairman

Senate Chairman Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has reiterated the state’s unwavering commitment to ensuring peace, development, inclusion, and constitutional rights for the people of Balochistan. Speaking on Friday at the National Workshop in Islamabad, Gilani emphasized that Balochistan’s significance goes beyond its geography, being Pakistan’s largest province by area and a key link between South Asia, Central Asia, and the Middle East.

He highlighted that Balochistan plays a crucial role in the country’s future, regional connectivity, and national security. He stressed the importance of providing education, skills, and opportunities to Balochistan’s youth to guarantee sustainable peace. Gilani also underscored that increasing the representation of Baloch youth in federal institutions remains a national priority.

Pointing to major development projects such as Reko Diq, CPEC, and the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), the Senate Chairman said these initiatives are promising for the province’s economic growth. He also praised the Balochistan Rights Package as a historic step in restoring trust between the federation and the province, ensuring financial autonomy, fair resource distribution, and increased opportunities for employment and representation.

Gilani noted that Balochistan’s natural resources, coastline, and strategic location make it central to Pakistan’s economic future and national security. He urged participants to respect constitutional values and democratic processes while contributing positively to governance.

The workshop, organized in collaboration with 12 core headquarters in Quetta, aims to promote national cohesion, informed leadership, and constructive dialogue on issues directly affecting Balochistan and its people. Gilani concluded by emphasizing that the resilience, strength, and hope of Balochistan’s people remain a source of pride for the nation.
