An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has sentenced Adil Raja and several other accused to two life imprisonments each in a case related to digital terrorism against state institutions. The court also imposed heavy fines on the convicts.
The verdict was announced by ATC Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra after the completion of the trial in cases linked to the May 9 incidents. The court concluded the proceedings and delivered the reserved judgment on Friday.
According to the ruling, Adil Raja, Haider Mehdi, Wajahat Saeed, Sabir Shakir, and Moeed Pirzada were each awarded two life sentences, along with additional cumulative sentences of 35 years imprisonment under other charges. The court also imposed a total fine of Rs 1.5 million on the convicts.
During the trial, the prosecution presented 24 witnesses. The court completed the trial in absentia, as permitted under anti-terrorism laws.
In separate cases, the court sentenced Sabir Shakir, Moeed Pirzada, and Syed Akbar Hussain in a case registered at Aabpara Police Station, while Shaheen Sehbai, Haider Mehdi, and Wajahat Saeed were convicted in a case registered at Ramna Police Station.
