Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, while addressing a delegation of students from Balochistan during the National Workshop, said that the clear difference between Punjab and other provinces lies in governance and the use of public funds for public welfare. She rejected the propaganda that Punjab receives a larger share of resources, stating that every province gets its due share and that students should not fall into misleading narratives.
Maryam Nawaz said that in Punjab, public money is spent on the people, which sets it apart from other provinces. She emphasized that good governance is the best form of politics and that politics is not about protocol but about hard work and public service. She added that Punjab has eliminated the culture of favoritism and bribery, resulting in a significant decline in crime.
Addressing the students, she said that youth are the future of Pakistan and her becoming the first female Chief Minister is an honor for all daughters of the country. She highlighted that people from all provinces benefit from Punjab’s hospitals, colleges, and universities without any discrimination.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister announced free laptops for all students in the Balochistan delegation and said that Punjab has launched Pakistan’s largest merit-based scholarship program, under which the government is paying the fees of 80,000 students. She stressed that development is only possible through strong monitoring, accountability, and infrastructure development, and urged students to ask questions from their governments with decency and awareness.
