Washington: U.S. President Donald Trump has sparked global attention after posting an image on his social media platform Truth Social in which he labeled himself “Acting President of Venezuela” effective January 2026.
The controversial image shared by Trump appeared to be a modified profile listing him as Acting President of Venezuela alongside his status as the 45th and 47th President of the United States. The claim comes amid heightened political tensions following a recent U.S.-led operation in Venezuela that resulted in the capture of former Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, who were flown to New York to face federal charges.
Although Trump’s post has generated widespread debate, there is no official documentation or legal basis indicating that he has been recognized by any government as Venezuela’s acting head of state. International observers and media have noted that the image appears to be digitally altered and not grounded in any constitutional or legal transition process.
The development has reignited discussions worldwide about U.S. involvement in Venezuelan affairs and the broader implications for international norms and sovereignty.
