Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has said that baseless and misleading propaganda against the state fuels unrest, instability, and violence in society, making its effective counter essential in the present time. He emphasized that guiding all segments of society, especially youth, towards the right direction and keeping them informed about facts is critically important.
He expressed these views while chairing a meeting of the Board of Governance of the Balochistan Center of Excellence on Counter Violent Extremism on Tuesday. The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Balochistan Shakeel Qadir Khan, Additional Chief Secretary Home Hamza Shafqat, IG Police Balochistan Muhammad Tahir Khan, Principal Secretary Babar Khan, Secretary Finance Imran Zarkoon, DIG CTD Ehtesaz Goraya, DG Levies Abdul Ghaffar Magsi, and other senior officials.
The Chief Minister said that the Center of Excellence would serve as a strong and effective platform for research, awareness, and countering violence, playing a key role in curbing extremist tendencies and promoting a positive narrative. He stressed that institutional coordination, a unified strategy, and measures aligned with modern requirements are indispensable to counter extremism.
Mir Sarfraz Bugti further stated that positive, constructive, and fact-based narratives would be promoted through educational institutions and social media to protect the younger generation from misleading elements. He added that youth engagement and awareness are vital for sustainable peace, and the provincial government is taking comprehensive steps in this regard.
The meeting also reviewed the law and order situation in Balochistan, ongoing counter-extremism measures, and future strategies, directing all relevant departments to work with effective coordination.
Meanwhile, in a post on social media platform X, the Chief Minister announced that the Levies Force has been merged into the police across Balochistan, ending a long-standing administrative ambiguity regarding uniform law enforcement. He said the decision has further clarified state responsibility and strengthened public security across the province.
