Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has reaffirmed Pakistan’s firm support for Somalia’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, stating that Somaliland is an inseparable and undisputed part of Somalia and no external actor has any legal or moral right to alter this reality.
Speaking at the extraordinary meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Jeddah, Ishaq Dar said that the visit of the Israeli foreign minister to Somaliland is deeply concerning and constitutes a direct challenge to Somalia’s internationally recognized borders.
He stressed that Pakistan strongly condemns Israel’s illegal and unjustified actions, adding that Islamabad has raised the issue at the United Nations and other international forums. According to him, such actions violate international law and the principles of the UN Charter.
The deputy prime minister warned that Israel’s move poses a serious threat to peace and stability in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea region. He said Pakistan, along with other OIC member states, has jointly rejected Israel’s actions through a collective statement.
Addressing the situation in Gaza, Ishaq Dar emphasized the urgent need for an end to the war and the unhindered delivery of humanitarian assistance. He reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination, stating that any forced displacement is unacceptable and a violation of international law.
He also called upon the OIC to take effective and concrete steps for the resolution of the Kashmir issue, in line with UN resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
