Torrential Rains Wreak Havoc In Panjgur

In Panjgur, strong stormy winds and heavy rains with lightning have caused damage to houses, walls, and electric poles in different areas. The lightning strike on PTCL’s repeater station has caused the landline and internet service to be disrupted for the last two days. The solar systems of the landowners have been largely destroyed, and the ready crop of wheat has also been damaged. The communication system has been affected, and several houses, walls, and electric poles fell due to thunder and lightning.

The tower of PTCL near Drug Dip was struck by lightning, which disrupted the communication roads. The stormy winds on a large scale destroyed the solar systems of the landowners, broke the windows of the vehicles, and damaged the ready crop of wheat. Due to the large-scale failure of the solar system, there is no other alternative system for the irrigation of ready-made crops. This has left the people of the area without a reliable source of water. Citizens have appealed to restore electricity to the area, and landlords have called for an impartial survey to address the losses of the common people.

The torrential rains of 2022/23 caused 16 precious lives lost, hundreds of houses and walls collapsed, and date crops were destroyed. Despite two years having passed, no relief has been provided to the common people. Therefore, the Chief Minister of Balochistan, the Chief Secretary of Balochistan Disaster Management Authority, and other authorities are requested to compensate for the damages in Panjgur. Relief should be given to the people and the landlords by carrying out an impartial survey.
