Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has expressed satisfaction over the recent performance of the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) and directed authorities to ensure strict implementation of the Apprenticeship Law while setting new targets for technical and vocational training programs.
Chairing a review meeting on the newly introduced vocational training ecosystem in the country, the Prime Minister reviewed ongoing NAVTTC programs in detail. The meeting was attended by third-party validators from the private sector, industrial partners, professional firms, representatives of chambers of commerce, business associations, and experts from the IT and artificial intelligence sectors.
The meeting was informed that NAVTTC has successfully achieved all training targets assigned by the Prime Minister. Biometric attendance of trainees, high standards for trainers, and third-party validation of training programs are being ensured. Pakistan’s first skill-based bond has also been launched, enabling results-based funding from the private sector.
Participants were briefed that training programs in IT, agriculture, fintech, mining, tourism, sports, hospitality, chip building, and other globally in-demand sectors are currently underway across the country. For the first time in Pakistan’s history, all NAVTTC programs have been fully aligned with industry requirements, with 148 industries actively involved.
The Prime Minister was informed that last year 146,000 individuals received training, over 15,000 international certifications were awarded, and through the Takamil program more than 300,000 individuals were trained, with over 280,000 Pakistanis employed in Saudi Arabia.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that providing international certifications to Pakistani youth is essential for global competitiveness. He directed that biometric attendance systems be implemented in all partner institutions, underperforming institutions be dealt with strictly, and full digitalization and online monitoring of NAVTTC be further strengthened.
