At least 11 Indian-backed Khawarij were killed in two separate intelligence-based operations conducted by security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operations were carried out on January 8, 2026, in North Waziristan and Kurram district. Acting on credible intelligence, security forces launched an operation in North Waziristan and effectively engaged a Khawarij hideout. During a fierce exchange of fire, six terrorists were neutralized.
In another intelligence-based joint operation conducted in Kurram district, security forces along with police engaged the militants, resulting in the killing of five Khawarij.
ISPR stated that weapons and ammunition were recovered from the killed terrorists, who were involved in multiple terrorist activities, including targeted attacks against security forces, law enforcement agencies, and innocent civilians.
The military’s media wing further said that clearance operations are ongoing to eliminate any remaining Indian-sponsored Khawarij from the area. It emphasized that security forces and law enforcement agencies remain committed to continuing counter-terrorism operations under the National Action Plan and the Azm-e-Istehkam strategy until terrorism is completely eradicated.
