It has been reported that the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Qazi Faiz Isa, along with three other judges of the Supreme Court, received a threatening letter. The other judges who received the letters were Justice Athar Minullah, Justice Jamal Mandukhel, and Justice Aminuddin. The letters were received on April 1 and contained an unknown powder and threats. All four letters were handed over to the Counter-Terrorism Department for further investigation. Yesterday, eight judges including the Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court, Amir Farooq, received suspicious letters. The letters contained powder and a threatening sign and were sent anonymously without a return address. Upon opening the letters, staff members reported a burning sensation in their eyes and found the word “anthrax” written on the letter. One affected officer immediately used sanitizer and washed his hands.
The letters were addressed to Justice Shujaat Ali Khan, Justice Shahid Bilal Hasan, Justice Abid Aziz, and Justice Alia Neelam, who are all members of the management committee of the Lahore High Court.
