Oxford University Announce Scholarships for Pakistani Students

Oxford Universityhas decided to grant scholarships under the Benazir Scholarship Program to students from Balochistan, which is a historic move. Oxford University and the Government of Balochistan struck an agreement to support this effort.

Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti was present at the signing of the scholarship agreement for Baloch students between the University of Oxford and the Oxford Pakistan Program. During his speech, Bugti underlined that the scholarship will support higher education and close the achievement gap.

Balochistani Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti is the first to speak in Oxford’s Lady Margaret Hall, where Benazir Bhutto, the only other Muslim world leader whose portrait hangs in the hall, studied. Aamir Ibrahim, Mohammad Khishgi, Farooq Sheikh, Senator Anwaarul Haq Kakar, Malala Yousafzai, and Prof. Kamal Munir were among the 150 delegates present at the ceremony.

“Many great personalities, including the martyred Benazir Bhutto, studied here, and the impoverished students of Balochistan will receive an education where they study,” stated Bugti. He emphasized that this project would bridge the gap in education and strengthen the connection between regional goals and worldwide academic standards by bringing Balochstan’s demands closer to the global level.

Bugti stated, “This is a fundamental commitment to the educational transformation and youth empowerment of Balochistan.” He said that this scholarship will be a significant step in preparing Balochistani future leaders and that higher education is essential to advancing social justice and democracy.

“We are proud to provide our students the opportunity to study at Oxford University, where Benazir Bhutto and other great leaders have studied,” Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti remarked during the signing ceremony.

“We are dedicated to giving our youth the best opportunities because we believe that education is the key to unlocking their potential,” he continued.

Bugti went on, “This is a way of empowering young people from Balochistan, not just financial aid.”

Talented Baloch students should be able to pursue further education at one of the top universities in the world thanks to the new scholarship program.
