The Speaker of the National Assembly has appointed Omar Ayub Khan as the Leader of the Opposition in Islamabad. The notification for his appointment was issued by Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, and Umar Ayub will take on his duties in the chamber once the notification is issued. The process of scrutiny for the opposition leader has been completed.
Omar Ayub expressed his gratitude to the founder of PTI and the leadership, stating that the speaker was called by the National Assembly and the scrutiny has functioned in their presence.
Before the appointment, Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq met with opposition members Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Umar Ayub, and Malik Muhammad Amir Dogar to discuss the nomination of the Leader of the Opposition. The opposition submitted Umar Ayub’s name, and after the scrutiny process was completed under Rule 39 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business of the National Assembly, the Speaker declared him as the Leader of the Opposition.
