Islamabad police engaged a cross-provincial gang involved in multiple high-profile robberies, resulting in one suspect being killed and two others being injured.
According to the Islamabad Police spokesperson, the gang had been wanted for over 70 serious crimes across Punjab and Islamabad, instilling fear in various districts.
The incident occurred near Sumbal police station, where officers were following leads provided by the arrested suspects, Rehman Ali, Azmat Ali, and Adil Hussain, to apprehend their accomplices and recover stolen property. The gang ambushed the police team, opening fire unexpectedly.
Due to bulletproof vests and safety precautions, police officers remained unharmed. However, the three arrested suspects were hit and taken to the hospital, where Rehman Ali succumbed to his injuries.
Police recovered three stolen motorcycles from Bhikki Sheikhupura, Sumbal, and Golra police stations, along with weapons and ammunition used in the crimes. A search operation is ongoing to apprehend the remaining gang members.
