Lahore: The Punjab government has decided to launch Pakistan’s first underground metro train, the Blue Line Metro, in Lahore. The 27-kilometer-long project will cost over 600 billion rupees and aims to revolutionize urban transport in the provincial capital.

The Blue Line Metro Train will begin from Valencia Town and terminate at Babu Sabu, covering key areas such as Johar Town, Faisal Town, Garden Town, Kalma Chowk, and Main Boulevard Gulberg. The route will also include major roads like Jail Road, Ferozepur Road, Wahdat Road, and Main Boulevard Allama Iqbal Town.

A spokesperson confirmed that the Punjab Transport Department has initiated work on the feasibility study and design of the project. The completion target has been set at three years.

The Blue Line Metro Train is expected to ease traffic congestion, improve public transport accessibility, and enhance Lahore’s urban infrastructure.
