Robot to recite Azaan announce Iftar
Dubai is set to test an autonomous robot that can be used to call the faithful for prayers and break their fast during Ramazan. The robot, which is powered by AI, is currently being used to monitor e-scooter and bicycle users who violate safety protocols.
The five-foot-tall robot has speakers and a touchscreen monitor and will sweep a 600-meter area along Jumeirah Kite Beach during its one-month trial phase. It will gather data to identify violations and remind people to follow safety protocols. The robot can also be used to make important public announcements,
such as a call to prayer or warnings about bad weather. It operates seven days a week, from 3 pm to 11 pm on weekdays and from 5 pm to 1 am on weekends. The robot is equipped with a 4K camera with night vision and interactive functionalities. The sales director of Terminus Group noted that the robot has similarities to those deployed during Expo 2020.
