Government Officially Announces Public Holiday on Iqbal Day

The federal government has declared a public holiday on November 9 on Iqbal Day.

The federal government has issued a notification according to which November 9 will be a holiday across the country on Iqbal Day.

The notification states that the holiday will be declared on December 20, 2023, per the list of public holidays and optional holidays for 2024.

It should be noted that every year on November 9, the birth anniversary of the poet of the East is celebrated as ‘Iqbal Day’ throughout Pakistan.

Allama Iqbal instilled a revolutionary spirit in the new generation and highlighted Islamic greatness. His books have been translated into English, German, French, Chinese, Japanese and other languages.

PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal opposed it and said that Allama Iqbal taught hard work, not a holiday.

PTI leader Shireen Mazari said that Iqbal’s message should be conveyed to the people on Iqbal Day, not a holiday.

It should be noted that November 9 marks the birth anniversary of the poet of the East, Allama Iqbal. Allama Iqbal was a great poet of the Indian subcontinent who was the first to present the concept of Pakistan.

His concept is also interpreted as the dream of Pakistan.

Most of Allama Iqbal’s poetry is about instilling an eagle spirit in the youth, awakening national pride in them, and making them always ready for action.
