World’s Largest Crocodile Has Died

The world’s largest crocodile in Australia has died at the age of more than 100.

An Australian wildlife sanctuary has announced that the world’s largest crocodile, Cassius, who was the largest crocodile in captivity, has died.

The crocodile was 5.48 meters (18 feet) long and weighed more than a ton and was estimated to be up to 110 years old.

The crocodile’s caretaker, Marineland Melanesia Crocodile Habitat, said in a Facebook post that its health had been declining since October 15 because it was very old and was believed to have lived beyond the average lifespan of a wild crocodile.

According to the report, the saltwater crocodile Cassius held the Guinness World Record for the ‘largest crocodile in captivity’ after the death of the Philippine crocodile Lulong in 2013.

Lulong, the crocodile that died in 2013, was 6.17 meters (20 feet 3 inches) long.
