Cabinet Terminates Over 150,000 Govt Jobs

The Federal Cabinet, based on recommendations from the Rightsizing Committee, has decided to eliminate around 150,000 vacant government positions.

Additionally, it has approved the outsourcing of non-core services like cleaning and maintenance, which will lead to a phased reduction of posts in grades 1 to 16. These decisions were made based on a summary from the Finance Division.

The Cabinet also imposed a total ban on the recruitment of contingency staff and authorized the Ministry of Finance to monitor the cash balances of other federal ministries.

Furthermore, the Cabinet approved the merger of the Ministry of Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan with the Ministry of States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON), and the complete shutdown of 28 institutions across five ministries.
