The investigation into alleged facilitation for former Prime Minister Imran Khan at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail has intensified, with six additional staff members now under scrutiny, as reported by Express News.
Sources indicate that these employees are suspected of being part of a network that provided assistance to the ex-premier, including delivering messages and offering other forms of support. Among those under investigation are two female wardens, a sweeper, and personnel responsible for monitoring camera security.
The probe has involved a thorough examination of the staff members’ mobile phones, with allegations suggesting that female staff played a key role in facilitating both Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi.
Since August 14, a total of 16 jail employees have been questioned regarding these allegations. Sources on Thursday revealed that a network allegedly linked to former Deputy Superintendent Muhammad Akram has been dismantled. The investigation has now expanded to include two more jail officers, Assistant Nazir and former Deputy Superintendent Zafar, both reportedly close associates of Akram.
Further evidence has been uncovered, indicating the use of mobile phones for WhatsApp communication on numbers associated with three European countries. Akram is accused of facilitating communications for Imran Khan and maintaining close ties with PTI leader Zulfi Bukhari and a former Punjab minister.
