Karachi : A woman driver involved in a fatal accident on Karsaz Road, Karachi, has been charged by the police after the tragic incident resulted in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to five others. The accident occurred on Monday around 6:30 PM when the woman, identified as Natasha Danish Iqbal, lost control of her speeding Toyota Land Cruiser (registration number BY-0033) near the Muslim League House on Karsaz Road.
The out-of-control SUV struck a motorcycle, killing 62-year-old Imran Arif and his 23-year-old daughter, Aamna, on the spot. The crash also left five other people, including 55-year-old Abdul Salam, injured. Natasha herself sustained a head injury in the collision.
Following the accident, a case was registered against Natasha at Bahadurabad Police Station under FIR No. 229/2024, with charges filed under Sections 320, 337G, 279, and 427 of the Pakistan Penal Code. The complainant, Imtiaz Arif, is brother of the deceased Imran Arif.
Eyewitnesses reported that Natasha’s SUV was speeding when it struck the motorcycle, leading to the fatal impact. She was immediately apprehended by police, with assistance from local citizens, and was taken to Jinnah Hospital for a medical examination, including a CT scan.
A large crowd gathered at the scene of the accident, and law enforcement, including police and Rangers, were deployed to manage the situation. Natasha was later transported to Bahadurabad Police Station, and her overturned SUV was towed away.
The police investigation into the incident is ongoing.
