Defence Minister Khawaja Asif Announces Strict Measures Against Death Threats to Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa

Islamabad: On Monday, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif declared that stringent action will be taken against those issuing death threats to Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa. Speaking at a joint press conference with Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal, Asif emphasized that the state will not tolerate ‘fatwas calling for murder’.

During the press conference, Asif condemned the inflammatory remarks made against Chief Justice Isa and highlighted attempts on social media to incite the public to commit murder. He warned that allowing such rhetoric could lead to the disintegration of the state’s structure. The Defence Minister pointed out that there are efforts to incite violence in the name of religion, targeting Chief Justice Isa through various pretexts.

Asif reiterated that the state would not accept any group dictating terms, stressing the importance of upholding the rule of law and justice in the country.

Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal also declared that threatening the Chief Justice is a direct rebellion against the constitution. He asserted that the authority to judge and impose penalties lies solely with the judiciary, and no group has the right to issue death fatwas.

Iqbal stressed that terrorism, suicide bombings, and issuing fatwas have no connection with Islam, and he vowed that the law would take strong action against those responsible.
