It has been 25 years since the war fought between Pakistan and India on the Kargil peaks and both countries are claiming victory in this battle.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a function held at Kargil on Friday and visited the memorial to the soldiers who died during the war.
In his address, Modi said that the Kargil War teaches us that the sacrifice made for the state is immortal. Centuries pass but the names of those who risked their lives to protect the state are always remembered.
He said that at the time of the Kargil war, India was making peace efforts. But Pakistan once again showed its face. But the terrorists were defeated in the face of history.
The Indian Prime Minister alleged that all the steps taken by Pakistan in the past have been wasted. But Pakistan has not learned anything from its history. He tries to strengthen himself through terrorism.
Between May and July 1999, a limited-scale war was fought between the forces of India and Pakistan in the Kargil district of Kashmir and some other areas.
The snowy peaks of the Kargil hills were occupied by the Indian army every year in favorable weather and at the onset of winter, they left them for the plains.
In early February 1999, no sooner had the Indian Army returned to the area than the Pakistani Army’s Northern Light Infantry (NLI), and, according to Pakistan, the ‘Mujahideen’ had captured these hills. Indian forces and their intelligence agencies remained unaware of the situation for a long time after the occupation.
However, when they found out about this adventure in the summer, then there was a fierce war between India and Pakistan in which India also used its air force to get possession.
Addressing a ceremony at the Kargil War on Friday, the Indian Prime Minister said, “Today I am speaking from a place where the masters of terror are hearing my voice directly.
He said, “I want to tell the patrons of terrorists that their evil plans will never succeed. Terrorists will be crushed by our soldiers with full force, the enemy will be given a befitting reply.”
On July 26, 1999, the Indian Army announced the success of ‘Operation Vijay’ and its victory after a nearly three-month-long battle at Kargil.

Some analysts in Pakistan say that Pakistan did not lose this war, but at the diplomatic level, Pakistan withdrew its troops under pressure.
According to him, Pakistan’s political government and army were not on the same page at that time and the bad relationship between the two had an impact on the campaign which resulted in Pakistan withdrawing its army from Kargil under the pressure of US President Bill Clinton. The call had to be accepted.
Some analysts say that Kargil damaged Pakistan’s narrative as it was labeled a ‘miss adventure’ by Pakistan in the Western world.
