Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz has announced to give 1224 flats free of cost to laborers in Taxila and Sundar labor colonies.
The performance of the labor department was reviewed in the meeting presided over by Chief Minister Punjab.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister was told that death and marriage grants were not paid to 29 thousand workers during the previous regime, on which Maryam Nawaz ordered to pay 6 billion rupees dues, death and marriage grants to the workers.
In the meeting, Chief Minister Punjab approved the construction of 2 hostels for women workers in Garment City
It has also been decided to provide free accommodation to 704 women workers in Sheikhupura, while 1224 flats have been announced for workers in Taxila and Sunder Labor Colonies.
Maryam Nawaz also ordered reforms in the labor department, implementation of occupational safety and health, and minimum wage laws.
Speaking in the meeting, the Chief Minister said that it is our responsibility to protect the rights of every worker of Punjab.
The Punjab government has set a minimum wage of 37 thousand rupees in the current budget, the minimum wage should be implemented by taking the stakeholders into confidence.
