NDMA To Become A Safety Wall For Pakistan: PM

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday, while addressing the National Disaster Management Authority’s office, referring to the newly-improved National Emergencies Operation Center (NEOC) having multiple satellite feeds and artificial intelligence tools, was hopeful that this Authority would act as a shield for Pakistan against the effects of climate change.

“Because of climate change, Pakistan is in the red zone and among the top ten vulnerable countries. We should not lose our morals but work hard. Now that I achieved this, I do not doubt that the NDMA in coordination with PDMAs of provinces will become a safety wall for Pakistan,” said the Prime Minister during his visit along with the federal ministers and secretaries to the NEOC here.

This was the first time the prime minister visited the center since the redeployment of NEOC after being revamped in October last year.
He was particularly elated with the NDMA Chairman Lt Gen Inam Haider Malik for bringing into reality the dream that he had wanted to see the Authority majorly based on capacity building and human resources development as opposed to the earlier conceptualized project on an office tower.

Speaking at a gathering, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif revealed that Pakistan falls in the red zone regarding climate change and is amongst the top ten global locations most vulnerable to this issue.

Recalling the prior meetings after the floods of 2022 the Prime Minister said that he had emphasized to the NDMA chief to focus on the enhancement and development of the capacity of the organization by acquiring modern technology, proper inputs of provinces, recruitment of permanent human resources and to establish a digital hub.

Prime Minister is happy and believes that dream has been materialized properly and it has been done to applause, no province has built such capacity with such world-class systems I am happy at least instead of a high-rise building you built this digital hub.
