NED University Announces Student Scholarships

Scholarships for both newly accepted undergraduate students and current students are available from 20% to 100% at NED University of Engineering and Technology. For this endeavour, a total of Rs233 million has been set aside.

The university initiated the undergraduate fellowship programme, named for notable national leaders such as Allama Iqbal, Quaid-e-Azam, Maulana Muhammad Ali Jauhar, Liaquat Ali Khan, Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, and Fatima Jinnah, after receiving clearance from the syndicate.

The new fellowship scheme has a yearly budget of Rs 233 million. This initiative, according to NED University, is unprecedented in Pakistan’s higher education industry and attempts to guarantee that no student drops out of school because of financial difficulties. The current scholarship system at Rs 200 million is supplemented by this programme.

“Students from Karachi Board, A-levels, and other boards will be eligible for 100% scholarships proportionally,” said Dr. Sarosh Lodhi, Vice Chancellor of NED University. 2,900 new students will receive scholarships; 1,500 will come from the Karachi Board, 300 from A-levels, and 60 from the boards in Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas.”

The top 50 students across all educational boards will receive 100% of their tuition and examination fees covered by the Jinnah Merit Fellowship, according to information obtained by The Express Tribune. those ranked 51–100 will receive a 70% scholarship from the Iqbal Leadership Fellowship, and those placed 101–150 will receive a 50% grant from the Sir Syed Visionary Fellowship. For ranks 151 through 225, the Jauhar Fellowship will award a 30% scholarship; for ranks 225 through 325, the Liaquat Ali Khan Excellence Fellowship will award a 25% scholarship; and for students placed higher than 401, the Fatima Jinnah Academic Fellowship will award a 20% scholarship.

According to Dr. Sarosh Lodhi, at the time of admission, the merit list and the list of students eligible for fellowships would be posted on the NED website.

The university has stated that following the first semester, fellowships would be awarded to the top three students in each programme, determined by CGPA, for presently enrolled students. The Jinnah Merit Fellowship will cover 100% of the tuition fees for the first place holder; the Iqbal Leadership Fellowship will cover 70% of the tuition fees for the second position holder; and the Sir Syed Visionary Fellowship will cover 50% of the tuition fees for the third position holder.

Furthermore, as part of the Jauhar Fellowship, presently enrolled students with a CGPA above 2.0 will receive a 22% tuition fee discount, while those with a CGPA below 2.0 would only receive a 15% discount.
