On Monday, a large fire that destroyed a girls’ high school in Haripur forced 500 students to be rescued. The entire school in the Srikot neighborhood of Tehsil Ghazi, Haripur District, was destroyed when the fire broke out unexpectedly.
500 girls and teachers who were trapped in the classrooms were saved by locals who raced to the scene. The school’s office supplies, furnishings, and equipment were all reduced to ashes by the fire.
The cause of the fire has not yet been identified by preliminary reports. The impacted school received a dispatch of fire engines from Haripur.
In a different incident, on Monday, a fire broke out in their Dera Ismail Khan home, killing two people and seriously burning five more. Two children lost their lives in the Imamia Colony fire.
The rescue squad reported that half of the school building was made of wood and that no lives had been lost. Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry, the chief secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, verified that a short circuit caused the school building to catch fire.
Chaudhry stated that the incident was being looked into further and that the school would soon reopen. The restive province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in Pakistan has seen militant attacks on school buildings.
Unidentified militants detonated a bomb at a private girls’ school in Tehsil Shewa, North Waziristan district, on the evening of May 8, according to police.
According to the police, the militants blew up two school rooms after torturing the watchman first. Similar attacks occurred when two government schools for girls in Mirali were detonated in May of last year. There were no confirmed fatalities from the incidents.
According to Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rescue personnel acted promptly and removed the pupils.
The chief minister announced that a report on the fire accident would be submitted by the district administration and the education department. In order to prevent similar occurrences in the future, he promised that all educational institutions would be examined. According to Gandapur, the provincial government will make up for the damages brought on by the fire.
