A meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Housing and Works was held on Wednesday at Parliament Lodges, Islamabad, under the chairmanship of Senator Nasir Mahmood. Senators Jan Muhammad, Khalida Ateeb, and Hidayatullah Khan attended the meeting.
The committee reviewed the implementation report of directives issued during previous meetings held in Quetta on November 21, 2025, and Lahore on December 18, 2025. Serious concern was expressed over the non-payment of salaries to Pakistan Public Works Department (Pak PWD) maintenance staff since July 1, 2025.
The committee directed the concerned authorities to immediately clear all salary arrears of affected employees and ensure their adjustment from the same date on which other Pak PWD employees in Balochistan were adjusted in various departments.
The committee was informed that around 2,860 Pak PWD employees have been adjusted in different organizations and are receiving regular salaries, including those posted in CDA, Estate Office, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, FBR, NAB, and the Office of the Controller General of Accounts. However, budget approval for 173 employees is still under process, while verification of 83 IB employees is ongoing.
The issue of 15 Grade-IV employees of the Central Civil Division Pak PWD was also discussed, who were transferred to AGPR and T Office Lahore but have not been adjusted nor paid salaries for the last six months. The committee expressed serious concern and directed immediate resolution and payment.
Officials from the Ministry of Housing and Works briefed the committee on the current status of employee adjustment, salaries, pensions, gratuity, and other dues. Matters related to the acquisition, development, and utilization of Constancia Estate Murree were also reviewed.
The committee chairman emphasized transparency, timely decision-making, and protection of employees’ rights, directing relevant departments to submit progress reports at the earliest.
