Karachi: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi reviewed the overall performance of FIA Karachi Zone and South Zone and directed strict, indiscriminate action against mafias involved in money laundering.
He stated that major money launderers must be brought to justice, the money trail fully exposed, and hawala businesses will not be tolerated. “Actions must be visible in practice,” he emphasized.
The minister also ordered effective measures against agents involved in human smuggling, saying that those who lure innocent individuals abroad under false job promises will not be spared.
He described the fake medicines business as playing with human lives and instructed immediate legal action against such elements. Naqvi assured that FIA Karachi Zone would receive priority in human resources and officers would be provided all necessary facilities, stressing that the agency’s reputation must improve through performance.
During the briefing, it was reported that in the last four months, 20 agents involved in human smuggling were arrested, and non-custom goods and drugs worth PKR 140 million were seized. A facilitation center has also been established at Karachi Airport for passenger convenience.
Finally, the Interior Minister requested performance reports from in-charge officers of their respective circles and urged further efforts and effective actions. Senior FIA officials and all relevant deputy directors attended the meeting.
