Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, Professor Ahsan Iqbal, addressed the inaugural ceremony of Saiban-e-Pakistan, describing it as a national initiative to promote interfaith harmony, social cohesion, and counter extremism.
Speaking at the event, Ahsan Iqbal stated that Saiban-e-Pakistan will strengthen the national narrative against extremism and foster unity across all communities, following the model of Paigham-e-Pakistan launched in 2018. He highlighted that Pakistan provides representation to minorities in every sector, and the Constitution guarantees religious freedom for all citizens.
The Minister emphasized that interfaith dialogue, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence are essential for sustainable development. He urged religious scholars, political leaders, media, teachers, and civil society to promote peace, understanding, and brotherhood rather than spreading hate.
Referring to his personal experience, Ahsan Iqbal mentioned that he survived an assassination attempt in 2018, stating, “The bullet hit my body, but the message sank into my heart.” He added that Pakistan must work to disarm minds from hatred and prejudice, building a society based on unity, tolerance, and social harmony.
