Political parties had filed petitions in court seeking to halt the scheduled local government elections in Quetta, originally set for 28 December 2025. The case was under consideration in both the High Court and the Supreme Court, and now the court has issued an official order postponing the elections. The court, after completing hearings on the petitions, decided to postpone the Quetta local elections to a later date to review all legal and security matters and ensure an appropriate decision is made.It is noteworthy that previously, the Election Commission of Pakistan had rejected the Chief Minister of Balochistan’s request to delay the elections. However, following the court’s ruling, the polling will not take place on the originally scheduled date.
