Pakistan–egypt Ties Should Become A Broad Economic Partnership: Jam Kamal

Cairo, Egypt – During the D–8 Trade Ministers’ Meeting, Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan held a key meeting with Egyptian Minister for Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan El-Khatib. The discussions focused on the long-standing friendly relations between Pakistan and Egypt and explored avenues for future economic partnership.

Federal Minister Jam Kamal Khan expressed satisfaction over the strong and cordial relations between the two countries, stating that it is crucial to transform this cooperation into a comprehensive and broad-based economic partnership.

He highlighted that in January 2024, 113 Pakistani companies participated in the PATDC and Single Country Exhibition in Cairo, providing new momentum to bilateral trade. According to the Federal Minister, bilateral trade between Pakistan and Egypt reached USD 208.32 million in 2024, reflecting the strengthening economic ties.

Jam Kamal Khan emphasized the need to reactivate the Pakistan–Egypt Joint Business Council, stating that strong private-sector linkages form the foundation for genuine economic growth.

Egyptian Minister Hassan El-Khatib underscored the importance of joint efforts to boost bilateral trade, citing the historic and fraternal ties between the two nations. He said that recent high-level interactions between the leadership of both countries have added new dimension and momentum to bilateral relations.

The meeting also acknowledged that the recent visit of the Egyptian Foreign Minister to Pakistan has paved the way for taking relations to new heights. Both ministers reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen fraternal ties into a robust economic partnership.

The ministers also appreciated close cooperation in international trade fairs, including Food Africa, Pharmaconex, AutoTech, Africa Health ExCon, FoodAg Pakistan, and Texpo Pakistan. Finally, both ministers agreed to further strengthen private-sector business relations.
