Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has stated that unnecessary speculation regarding the notification of the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) appointment is unfounded, as the formal process for issuing the notification has already begun.
According to Khawaja Asif, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is returning to the country shortly, after which the notification for the CDF appointment will be issued at the appropriate time.
The Defence Minister urged the public and media to avoid unnecessary conjecture, emphasizing that all procedures are being completed strictly in accordance with constitutional requirements.
It is worth noting that under the 27th Constitutional Amendment, the new position of Chief of Defence Forces has been created. Following parliamentary approval, Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir has been designated for this role, but the official notification has not yet been released.
