Pakistan Seeks Peace But Will Not Tolerate Cross-border Terrorism: Asim Munir
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), visited Peshawar and held an interactive session with the Jirga of tribal elders. He was briefed at Headquarters 11 Corps on security, operational preparedness, and counter-terrorism efforts along the Pak-Afghan border.
Addressing the Jirga, COAS praised the tribal people for their support during the recent standoff with Afghan Taliban and paid tribute to the resilience and sacrifices of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s people in the fight against terrorism. Tribal elders assured full support to the Armed Forces against terrorism.
COAS emphasized Pakistan’s desire for peace with neighbors but warned against cross-border terrorism from Afghanistan. He expressed concern over Afghan Taliban’s assistance to Indian-backed terrorist groups and assured the tribes that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will be cleared of terrorists and their abettors.
Tribal elders appreciated the COAS’s candid address and reaffirmed their commitment to peace, rejecting the extremist ideology of FAK. Upon arrival, COAS was received by the Commander of Peshawar Corps.
