Pakistan Receives First U.S. Crude Oil Shipment

Web Desk: Pakistan has marked a historic milestone in its energy sector as the first-ever U.S. crude oil shipment arrived in the country. Experts have termed this development a landmark day for Pakistan’s energy landscape. According to details, the U.S. oil tanker “MT Pegasus” is scheduled to berth today at the Cnergyico oil terminal in Balochistan. It is the largest American oil vessel ever to reach a Pakistani port. Cnergyico has imported one million barrels of West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil from Houston, USA, marking the beginning of crude oil imports under the new Pakistan–U.S. trade agreement. The vessel MT Pegasus departed from Houston on September 14 and will anchor at Cnergyico’s Single Point Mooring (SPM) offshore terminal. The company stated that this marks the start of a new era of bilateral energy trade between Pakistan and the United States. Cnergyico previously set a national record in 2017 by bringing the largest crude oil tanker ever to its offshore terminal in Pakistan. The company now plans to receive its second oil cargo in mid-November and a third shipment in 2026. Energy analysts believe that the import of American crude will diversify Pakistan’s oil supply sources and strengthen trade ties between Islamabad and Washington. Key Point: Cnergyico has become the first Pakistani company to import U.S. crude oil, opening a new chapter in Pakistan–U.S. energy cooperation.
