Kuala Lumpur (Web Desk)U.S. President Donald Trump has said that Saudi Arabia played a vital role in mediating peace between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Speaking at a peace agreement ceremony held between Thailand and Cambodia in Malaysia’s capital Kuala Lumpur, President Trump expressed pride in his administration’s success in ending multiple conflicts across the world.
“We have ended eight wars in eight months. There was also a conflict between Pakistan and Afghanistan, but it ended quickly. Pakistan’s Field Marshal and Prime Minister are great men,” said Trump.
The U.S. President stated that during his Asia tour, he aims to discuss trade rather than war. He added that he would meet with the Presidents of China and South Korea, and the Prime Minister of Japan.
Trump remarked that just a year ago, his country was “a dead nation,” but has now become one of the strongest in the world.
“Ending wars isn’t exactly my hobby, but I’m good at it — and I enjoy it. The United Nations should be doing this, but since it’s not, I’m doing it,” he added.
Before departing for Malaysia, Trump told reporters that he was open to meeting North Korean leader Kim Jong Un during the trip. He expressed hope that his upcoming meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in South Korea would be “highly positive” and could pave the way for a new trade deal to avoid further tariffs.
