Pakistan, Romania agree to boost defense cooperation

Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, met with Chief of the Romanian Air Force, Lieutenant General Leonard Gabriel Baraboi, during his historic official visit to Romania. The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral defense relations and exploring new avenues of cooperation between the two air forces. Upon his arrival at the Romanian Air Force Headquarters, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu was presented with a Guard of Honour by a smartly turned-out contingent. Later, both air chiefs held in-depth discussions on enhancing operational cooperation, including joint air exercises, exchange programs, and training of air and ground crew. The two dignitaries also exchanged views on regional security and reaffirmed the importance of bilateral cooperation in maintaining regional and global stability. Lieutenant General Baraboi praised the professional excellence of the Pakistan Air Force in countering Indian aggression and lauded the progress achieved through its self-reliance initiatives under the visionary leadership of the Air Chief. Both sides agreed to establish a strong institutional mechanism for sustainable cooperation to address shared air defense challenges. They also reviewed opportunities to expand existing defense industrial partnerships in modern aerospace technologies. The Air Chief’s visit marks a significant milestone in Pakistan–Romania military relations, highlighting both countries’ strong commitment to peace, development, and defense cooperation in a rapidly evolving security environment.
