Women’s Participation In SMEs Is A Welcome Step: PM

Efforts to increase women’s participation in small and medium enterprises (SMEs) were appreciated. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of promoting registration of home-based industries to facilitate business expansion and easy access to financing.

He directed that the roadmap for SME development prepared by SMEDA be implemented without delay, stating that Pakistan’s industrial growth depends on the development of small, medium, and home-based industries. He further stressed the need to ensure training for SMEs in rural areas for agricultural processing.

During the meeting, it was informed that SMEDA offices have been established in Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan and are receiving positive response from the public and chambers of commerce. A board comprising private sector experts has been formed, and the appointment of the CEO will be finalized soon.

To promote women’s inclusion in business, an AI-based Womenpreneurship Platform is being launched. It will provide women with business information, registration assistance, tax guidance, and skill development opportunities.
