A Levies Force team led by SHO Kattan was performing security duties during the ongoing polio vaccination campaign in the Kattan area when about 15 armed terrorists launched an attack on them.
During the exchange of fire, the terrorists targeted the tires of the Levies vehicle, hitting the fuel tank, which caused the vehicle to catch fire. Despite the critical situation, the Levies personnel demonstrated exceptional bravery and professional skill.
Upon receiving the report, the Deputy Commissioner immediately dispatched additional forces, while the Pakistan Army’s 152 Air Defence Unit and Frontier Corps’ 151 Wing (Sibi Scouts) swiftly responded and surrounded the area.
In a successful search and clearance operation, all Levies personnel were safely rescued, and their weapons and equipment were recovered intact. Although the vehicle was badly damaged, no casualties were reported.
The courage of the Levies Force and the timely response of the Sibi Scouts are highly commendable in this heroic operation.
