Hamas Releases 7 Israeli Hostages to Red Cross, Ceasefire Begins

The Palestinian resistance group Hamas has handed over 7 Israeli hostages to the International Committee of the Red Cross as part of the first phase of a ceasefire agreement. According to news agency Reuters, under this agreement, Israel will release hundreds of Palestinian prisoners from its jails. This agreement is being seen as a significant step toward ending the two-year-long war and is aimed at laying the foundation for a sustainable peace process. Hamas members, wearing masks, were present at the Nasser Hospital in southern Gaza when the hostages were released, where Red Cross teams also arrived. Meanwhile, in Israel, hundreds of civilians gathered outside the R’aim military camp and in Tel Aviv’s “Hostage Square,” waving Israeli flags and holding pictures of the hostages. During the two-year-long war, countries such as Iran, Yemen, and Lebanon were indirectly involved in the conflict, which has significantly shifted the political balance in the Middle East. On the other hand, U.S. President Donald Trump, before his departure for Israel, stated, “The war is over,” and expressed hope that conditions in the region would soon return to normal. Trump is scheduled to speak at the Israeli Parliament, where a special ceremony will be held in his honor today.
