Qatar to share US air base in Idaho

The United States and Qatar have signed an agreement to construct a Qatari Air Force facility in the U.S. state of Idaho.

On Friday, Pentagon Chief Pete Hegseth announced that the facility, located at Mountain Home Air Base, will host a contingent of F-15 fighter jets and pilots to promote joint training and enhance defense interoperability.

“It’s yet another example of our strong partnership,” Hegseth said alongside Qatari Defense Minister Sheikh Saoud Al Thani, while thanking Doha for its leadership in the Gaza peace talks.

This development follows a $12 billion deal signed between Washington and Doha in 2017 for the sale of F-15QA fighter aircraft to Qatar.

It is noteworthy that the Mountain Home Air Base has been used by Singapore’s Air Force since 2009, which maintains a detachment of F-15SG fighter jets and personnel at the site.
