Historic Ceasefire Deal Between Israel and Hamas

Historic Ceasefire and Prisoner Exchange Agreement Between Israel and Hamas

A historic ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement has been reached between Israel and the Palestinian group Hamas on Thursday. The deal is being regarded as the first phase of U.S. President Donald Trump’s two-year plan to end the Gaza war.

Under the agreement, Israel has agreed to a ceasefire, while Hamas has committed to releasing all Israeli hostages in its custody. In return, Israel will release hundreds of Palestinian prisoners and begin a partial withdrawal of its forces from Gaza.

The agreement was finalized after indirect negotiations held in the Egyptian coastal city of Sharm El-Sheikh. Both sides have confirmed the signing of the deal.

President Trump: “A Foundation for Lasting Peace”

U.S. President Donald Trump, announcing the agreement at the White House, expressed confidence that the deal would lay the foundation for lasting peace in the region.

Humanitarian Aid Allowed Into War-Torn Gaza

Following the agreement, trucks loaded with food and medical supplies will be allowed into Gaza to assist the millions of civilians displaced by the destruction of their homes and now living in tents.

Netanyahu’s Approval and Israeli Troop Withdrawal

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened his security cabinet and confirmed that the ceasefire would take effect immediately after the agreement’s approval. According to Israeli media, the military has begun preparations to withdraw from some areas.

Over 67,000 Palestinians Killed in Two-Year War

The two-year-long war has claimed the lives of over 67,000 Palestinians, while dozens of Israelis have also been killed. Experts believe that if the deal is fully implemented, it could be the most effective peace effort to date and may ease regional tensions involving Iran, Yemen, and Lebanon.

Joy in Gaza and Israel

Residents in Gaza welcomed the deal as a sign of hope. “Thank God, the war is over, the bloodshed has stopped. Today not only Gaza but the entire Arab world is happy,” said Abdelmajid Abdurabah, a resident of Khan Younis.

Similarly, families of Israeli hostages in Tel Aviv celebrated the agreement. Enav Zugawakar, whose son was held captive for two years, said, “I can’t breathe. I can’t believe this day has finally come.”

Further Steps Under Discussion

Sources indicate that the final list of Palestinian prisoners to be released is still under negotiation, with Hamas demanding the release of several high-profile detainees.

Other stages of President Trump’s 20-point peace plan — including post-war governance in Gaza and the future of Hamas — are yet to be discussed.

Nevertheless, today’s agreement is being seen as a significant ray of hope in ending a long and bloody conflict.
