Saryab Blast: Rs 1.5 Million Announced for Martyrs
Following the suicide blast on Saryab Road in Quetta, the Chief Minister of Balochistan announced a financial aid package of Rs 1.5 million for each family of the martyrs.
Additional Chief Secretary Home, Muhammad Hamza Shafqat, briefed the media, stating that immediate measures were taken after the blast and the situation was brought under control. He mentioned that in August there were a total of 32 potential attack threats, but due to government actions, no civilian lost their life.
Hamza Shafqat further said that political party leaders were informed in advance, urging them to conclude their gatherings before sunset due to security concerns. He added that security threats had existed previously, and for 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal, an additional 22 threats were identified. As part of precautionary measures, restrictions have been imposed on Pulak Gated Range and Section 144 has been enforced to ensure public safety.
He urged the public to cooperate and follow security instructions, emphasizing that compliance is every citizen’s responsibility to prevent any future untoward incidents.
Quetta Suicide Blast: Additional Chief Secretary Holds Emergency Press Conference
Quetta: Following a suicide blast after a BNP (Mengal) rally, the Additional Chief Secretary Home Balochistan, Muhammad Hamza Shafqat, held an emergency press conference. He confirmed that the tragic incident resulted in 15 fatalities and 32 injuries, including security personnel.
Hamza Shafqat stated that the incident occurred at 9:40 PM, after the rally had concluded, approximately 500 meters from the venue. He revealed that the body of the suicide attacker, under 30 years of age, was recovered and that 8 kilograms of explosives were used in the attack.
He added that BNP (Mengal) had insisted on holding the rally, and the government had generously issued an NOC containing 17 to 18 security conditions. Hamza Shafqat further noted that due to upcoming Eid Milad-un-Nabi celebrations, there were existing security concerns in the city, and security forces had been placed on high alert.
