Quetta: The 78th Independence Day central ceremony began with a flag-hoisting event attended by Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfaraz Bugti and Speaker of the Provincial Assembly.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that Independence Day reminds us of the sacrifices of our forefathers, and this year’s celebrations symbolize victory over the enemy and national unity.
He stated that the people of Balochistan have always played a vital role in defending the homeland and will continue to do so in the future. From Gwadar to Zhob, Independence Day is being celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm.
Mir Sarfaraz Bugti condemned the acts of a handful of terrorists who violate tribal traditions and target innocent women, children, and travelers. He stressed that Parliament must take the lead in eradicating terrorism and that all segments of society must unite to eliminate this menace.
He assured that the end of terrorism and unrest is near, as security forces are making immense sacrifices for peace, and the dawn of lasting peace in Balochistan is not far.
The Chief Minister congratulated the Speaker and his team for organizing the ceremony and announced a cash prize of Rs. 500,000 for the participating school children.
