Faisalabad: Federal Minister For Railways, Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, Has Announced That A Modern Railway Station In Karachi Will Be Inaugurated On September 10.
During A Visit To Faisalabad Railway Station, Hanif Abbasi Told The Media That, In Line With The Prime Minister’s Vision, Efforts Are Underway Across The Country To Modernize Pakistan Railways Through Short- And Long-Term Projects.
He Stated That, Under An Agreement With The Sindh Government, Rohri Railway Station Will Be Upgraded Following The Lahore Model, And The New Modern Station In Karachi Will Be Ready For Inauguration On September 10. Additionally, Feasibility Reports For The Sibi To Rohri Section (250 Kilometers) And The Rohri To Karachi Section (480 Kilometers) Are Expected To Be Completed Within Two Months, With Construction Anticipated To Begin By June Next Year.
The Federal Minister Highlighted The Digitalization Of Railways, Mentioning That The Ticketing System Has Been Fully Moved Online, The Train Tracking System Is Operational, ATMs have Been Installed At Major Stations, And, With Cooperation From The Punjab Chief Minister, Wi-Fi Services Are Being Provided At 40 Railway Stations Across Punjab. This Service Has Already Started In Lahore And Will Soon Extend To Karachi, Hyderabad, Faisalabad, And Other Cities.
Hanif Abbasi Further Added That The Outsourcing Process Of Railway Services Will Be Completed By September 30. This Includes Transferring Nine To Eleven Passenger Trains, Freight Trains, Guest Houses, Special Salons, Hospitals, Schools, And Other Facilities To The Private Sector To Improve Service Quality And Increase Revenue.
Moreover, Construction Of A Linear Park From Shahdara To Raiwind Has Begun, With A Budget Of 235 Crore Rupees. Upgrades Are Also Planned For Stations In Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, And Taxila, As Well As For A 50-Kilometer Section From Sheikh Zaid To Kuchlak In Balochistan.
