More than 50 passengers were feared injured on Friday when six bogies of the Islamabad Express derailed near Kala Shah Kaku, between Sheikhupura and Muridke. The train was en route from Lahore to Islamabad when the accident occurred near Nullah Dek.
According to rescue sources, three of the derailed bogies overturned, triggering panic and chaos among passengers. Eyewitnesses reported that many passengers attempted to rescue fellow travelers before emergency teams arrived at the scene.
Six rescue vehicles were dispatched to the site as part of an ongoing relief operation. The injured, including women and children, were shifted to Muridke THQ Hospital and Shahdara Teaching Hospital. Two critically injured passengers were referred to Lahore’s General Hospital for advanced medical care.
