Rahim Yar Khan: Dozens of robbers attacked the Sheikhani police post near Mahi Chowk area of Rahim Yar Khan district of Punjab with rockets and automatic weapons, as a result of which 5 elite force personnel were martyred and 2 were injured.
According to a police spokesperson, the number of attackers was more than two dozen. One robber was killed in the exchange of fire while a search operation is underway to find the others.
The martyred include Muhammad Irfan, Muhammad Saleem, Muhammad Khalil, Constable Nakheel, and Ghazanfar Abbas, three of whom belong to Bahawalnagar and two to Rahim Yar Khan.
The police have launched a counter-operation against the robbers along with a force equipped with armored vehicles and modern weapons.
Taking notice of the incident, IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has sought an immediate report from RPO Bahawalpur and has directed the DPO to immediately arrest the attackers.
The IG said that the sacrifices of the martyrs will not go in vain, and the Punjab Police will take strong and decisive action against the robbers.
