Tax Car Scandal: Balochistan Officer Sacked After Viral Video

Quetta: The Government of Balochistan has taken rapid action after a video, showing the misuse of a government vehicle, went viral on social media, removing the project director of Mangi Dam with immediate effect. The widely operated video caught a government-registered vehicle being used to visit individual scenic spots and holidays. The people inside the vehicle were seen trying to stop others from recording the incident, leading to public anger. The footage provoked a wave of public resentment, seeking strict accountability by social media users. Many people questioned whether the taxpayer’s money was to fund the elite’s luxury, while the common citizens struggled under the weight of increasing taxes. Government spokesperson Shahid Rind confirmed the incident, saying that on the instructions of Chief Secretary Balochistan, the officer was immediately removed from the post. He also announced that a transparent investigation is going on to identify all responsible parties and ensure legal accountability. Rind emphasized the commitment of the provincial government to the “zero tolerance” policy for misuse of public resources, stating that no misuse of authority would be tolerated regardless of rank or status. Social media users strongly reacted, with arting: “Are the poor only born to pay taxes, while the elite ride in luxury on public money?” Another demanded, “The government will have to tell who was purchased in that car with our money.”
