Fbr’s Tax Collection Exceeds Rs800 Billion

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has collected more than Rs 800 billion in taxes as of January 30, while the tax target for January 2025 is Rs 956 billion. According to the FBR spokesperson, the FBR collected the highest tax in history in December, and will be close to the tax collection target for the current month.

There is no need to worry about a possible shortfall of Rs 40 to 50 billion. The IMF sees tax collection every quarter not monthly.

The spokesperson said that the target for tax collection from July to March is Rs 3150 billion, and collection will improve with the acceleration of economic activities in March.

Last month, in December 2024, Rs 1330 billion in taxes were collected, while there was a shortfall of Rs 384 billion in tax revenue from July to December 2024-25.

In the first 6 months of the fiscal year, Rs 5624 billion in taxes were collected, while the target for tax collection from July to December was Rs 6,08 billion.
