Military Courts’ Decision: HRCP Strong Response
Islamabad: The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan has reacted to the announcement of sentences by the military court
According to the details, the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan said that no citizen should be tried in a military court under any circumstances.
This violates the fundamental rights provided by the Pakistani Constitution. The HRCP further said that it is also a violation of international human rights obligations to which Pakistan is a state party.
All citizens accused of torture should have been tried in civilian courts through open public proceedings so that their right to due process and fair trial can be protected.
